2015 Charlotte Hornets ticket info

Nostalgic NBA fans, rejoice; Charlotte Hornets tickets are a thing again. The franchise formerly known as the Bobcats has rebranded itself as the Hornets in advance of the 2014-15 NBA season, co-opting the name and color scheme associated with the professional basketball team located in Charlotte from 1988-2002. Fans in the Charlotte, NC area can now buy Hornets tickets to watch their local team, and no longer have to keep old ticket stubs dating back to the late ’80s as keepsakes bearing the Hornets logo.

The purple and teal will once again adorn Charlotte Hornets tickets this season. After the original Hornets left town for New Orleans—and have since become the New Orleans Pelicans—fans in North Carolina were left without a hometown NBA team. The Bobcats came into existence in 2004 and filled that void for a time, but lackluster on-court performance led the front office to revive the Hornets brand in an attempt to excite the fans once more.

Time Warner Cable Arena seats 19,077 and is the home of the Hornets; for the better part of the past decade, many of those seats have been empty on game nights. With the reintroduction of the Hornets moniker, the organization is hoping ticket sales will spike this year.

In addition to a new name and logo, the Hornets have a major new addition to the roster: former Indiana Pacers star Lance Stephenson. New York State’s all-time leading high school scorer will don the purple and teal this season after signing a three-year, $27 million contract with Charlotte. He’ll join big man Al Jefferson—who’s coming off a foot injury that cost him most of the 2013-14 season—to form a formidable frontcourt for the Hornets.

PG Kemba Walker and SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will also be back for the Hornets this year, giving Charlotte an exciting young lineup. Walker led the team in both assists and steals last season; Kidd-Gilchrist will look to improve his all-around game and contribute more than the 8.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game he averaged last year.
