Ohio State Buckeyes Tickets
All Urban Meyer did in his first year on the sidelines at Ohio Stadium was lead the Buckeyes to an undefeated season. Could a BCS National Championship be in store for fans with Ohio State tickets in 2013?
The schedule certainly sets up nicely for the Buckeyes to make a run at not only a Big Ten conference title but also a national championship. They face a soft non-conference slate and their toughest Big Ten game—vs. Michigan on Nov. 30—is in Columbus.
Back-to-back undefeated seasons capped by an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game would be quite a start for Meyer’s tenure at Ohio State. But no one is surprised. Meyer remains one of the game’s elite minds. He’s won everywhere he’s been, from his early days at Bowling Green to leading Utah to a BCS Bowl win and, of course, at Florida, where he won two National Championships.
After a year off relaxing as an analyst for ESPN, Meyer accepted the head coaching position at Ohio State and instantly made his mark on one of college football most storied programs. He guided the Buckeyes to a perfect season last year, his first in Columbus. But, because of NCAA sanctions related to Jim Tressel’s tenure, Ohio State was not eligible to participate in either the Big Ten Championship Game or a bowl game.
That changes this season, and you expect Meyer’s Buckeyes to be right in the thick of national championship race. There’s a strong belief that Meyer’s the right guy to end the SEC’s reign.
To do that, quarterback Braxton Miller will have to deliver an all-world season. Miller enters his junior season with plenty of Heisman hype. He’s a dynamic dual-threat playmaker and a master of the zone read option game, which is all the rage in college football these days.
Meyer, of course, utilized Tim Tebow in an option offense to win two titles at Florida. He’ll certainly get the most out of Miller and will tailor the Buckeyes’ offense to his best player’s strengths. Look for a big year out of Miller.
The Buckeyes’ defense should be equally tough, giving Ohio State tickets all the ingredients to deliver a season of exciting Big Ten football.

There is only one way the 2007 Ohio State Buckeyes can improve on last year’s team: win a national championship. Students, fans and Ohio State ticket holders witnessed the Buckeyes having a season to remember, only to fall short in the national championship game to the Florida Gators.
The Buckeyes started the year as the pre-season #1 team. The crew from Columbus ran roughshod over their competition starting with a revenge victory from 2005 over #4 ranked Texas in Austin and culminating in the regular season finale against Michigan. The #2 ranked Wolverines entered the game unbeaten and tied with the Buckeyes in the Big Ten. It was a winner take all contest with the victorious team assured of punching their ticket to the national championship game and grabbing the conference championship.
Michigan’s defense was touted as one of their best ever and came in as the top rated squad in the country. Buckeye quarterback Troy Smith was unimpressed. The senior torched the Wolverines for 316 yards passing and four touchdowns. It was Smith’s third straight victory over Michigan, the first such Buckeye to accomplish that feat since Tippy Dye in 1934-1936. A few weeks later, Smith was awarded the Heisman Trophy.
The Buckeyes came into the national championship game as 7.5 point favorites. But the Gators were a one loss team with a dominating defense and underrated offensive capabilities. After Ted Ginn returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, the Gators responded with 34 points and only gave up one touchdown on defense. After halftime, Florida added an additional touchdown in the fourth quarter and their defense pitched a shutout as the Gators won by the convincing score of 41-14.
The 2007 Buckeyes will remain a potent squad on defense. James Laurinaitis led the team in tackles and interceptions a year ago, and returns to try and dominate from his linebacker position. Laurinaitis will be joined by strong side linebacker Marcus Freeman and the duo will prove to be tough to run against.
On offense, Ohio State has some significant reloading in front of them. Gone are Heisman winner Smith, Ginn, wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, and running back Antonio Pittman, but stud sophomore running back Chris Wells will be hard to stop and Alex Boone, Kirk Barton, and Steve Rehring, Jr. all return to anchor a powerful offensive line.
Ohio State season ticket holders will see the Buckeyes have an easier part of their schedule at the beginning of the year, giving time for the offense to mesh before going up against some of their tougher opposition. But as Jim Tressel has proven over the past few years, in Columbus you don’t rebuild, you reload.

With the Buckeyes’ storied history, there’s never a bad time to own Ohio State football tickets. But the 2006 NCAA college football season has the potential to be extra special. Loaded with NFL-caliber talent on both sides of the ball, the Buckeyes are one of the favorites to hold up the crystal football as the BCS National Champion. Last year’s 10-2 mark was seen as a disappointment around Columbus, but the season did finish on a high note with a convincing victory over Notre Dame in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. That win coupled with the return of All-American candidates quarterback Troy Smith and wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. has created a deafening buzz around Ohio Stadium and Ohio State football tickets.
With Smith and Ginn Jr. highlighting a potentially explosive offense, head coach Jim Tressel will look to shed his reputation as a conservative play caller. The Buckeyes will keep the pressure on opposing defenses with a balanced attack built on speed and athleticism. Smith accounted for 27 touchdowns during his junior campaign, including a team-high 11 rushing TDs. He hooked up Ginn Jr. on a 56-yard bomb for the Buckeyes’ first score in the Fiesta Bowl. Ginn would score again on a 68-yard reverse, igniting OSU’s rout of the Irish. The potent combination of Ginn Jr. and Smith is only one of many reasons the Buckeyes will feature more of a high-octane attack this season. Junior running back Antonio Pittman, who rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns against Notre Dame, including a game clinching, 60-yard burst late in the fourth quarter, will force defenses to stay at home and not focus entirely on Smith and Ginn Jr. In the Fiesta Bowl, the Buckeye threesome combined for 275 yards on the ground. That’s bad new for the rest of the Big Ten.
With a schedule that features a showdown with defending national champion Texas along with the rugged Big Ten slate, the Buckeyes will need every single bit of their immense talent. The Longhorns upended Ohio State in Columbus last season on their way to beating USC in the Rose Bowl. The Buckeyes will be looking for revenge when the travel to Austin on Sept. 9.
And, of course, there’s the annual Michigan Ohio State game, which is widely considered amongst the biggest rivalries in all of sports. This year’s match-up is at Ohio Stadium on Nov. 18. In last year’s game with the Wolverines, the Buckeyes scored twice in the final seven minutes to stun Michigan, 25-21.

Northwestern shocked Iowa last week 21-7, while Ohio State received one of its sternest tests of the season from a game Illinois squad. The Buckeyes can’t get caught looking ahead to next week’s showdown with the Michigan Wolverines or their season could turn south at the hands of Northwestern. Boy, would that throw a wrench in everyone’s BCS party. Heisman candidate Troy Smith will be looking to make sure that doesn’t happen to the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has its destiny in its hands and needs simply to knock of Illinois to inch closer to a Big Ten title and a shot at the BCS National Championship. But first, the Buckeyes must navigate through the rest of their Big 10 schedule, beginning with Saturday's showdown with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Ohio State, as usual, looking impressive in its dominating victory over upstart Indiana last week. Ted Ginn, Troy Smith and Anthony Gonzales appear to be an unstoppable threesome. But they better be at their best when Minnesota coach Glen Mason leads the high-scoring Golden Gophers into Ohio Stadium. Although Minnesota has been struggling, the Golden Gophers have always been able to put up points in a hurry, and it's not a good idea for coach Jim Tressel's Buckeyes to overlook Saturday's opponent.

3:30 p.m., Ohio Stadium
Bowling Green-Ohio State tickets: It’s a great time to be a Buckeye fan. Jim Tressel has Ohio State at the top of everybody’s poll and for good reason. Quarterback Troy Smith seems to pick from a plethora of weapons each week. Last Saturday against Iowa, he hooked up with Anthony Gonzales for highlight touchdown. This week, it could be Ted Ginn lighting up Bowling Green. But the Falcons from the MAC will have a few tricks up their sleeves as well. Running back Freddie Barnes has already rushed for seven touchdowns this season.

No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0) at Michigan State (3-3) tickets 3:30 p.m. EST, Saturday, at Ohio Stadium
The Buckeyes look unstoppable; Ted Ginn Jr looks fast and Troy Smith looks like a future NFL superstar. And don’t forget about receiver Anthony Gonzalez and running back Antonio Pittman. The only thing that can stop Jim Tressel’s Buckeyes now is a case of overconfidence. Or maybe a date with the talented but struggling Spartans from East Lansing. Michigan State has the talent to compete with anyone in the nation. Quarterback Drew Stanton and the Spartans showed that against Notre Dame. They dominated the Irish for three quarters before letting things slip away in the fourth quarter. You can bet the crowd at Spartan Stadium will fired up and looking to ruin the Buckeyes’ dream season.

12 p.m. EDT, Saturday
Ohio Stadium
Jim Tressel’s top-ranked Buckeyes will be looking to avenge last year’s 17-10 loss to Penn State, when legendary head coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions visit Ohio Stadium Saturday. The Buckeyes overcame a sluggish start and whipped up on instate rival Cincinnati last week. Penn State pulled away from Youngstown State, Tressel’s old stomping grounds.
It will be interesting to see if Penn State can handle OSU’s speed on the outside, especially wide receiver Ted Ginn. Ginn and quarterback Troy Smith have hooked up on at least one touchdown pass in each of the Buckeyes’ three victories this season. Ohio State’s pair of Heisman trophy candidates are hoping to connect again against the Nittany Lions.
