The Phoenix Suns feature an exciting lineup led by returning starters Goran Dragic, Marcin Gortat and Shannon Brown and bolstered this summer with a slew of additions. 7-foot center Alex Len and highly-touted shooting guard Archie Goodwin were added through the draft and point guard Eric Bledsoe was added in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Suns will also get a boost from the return of forward Channing Frye, who missed all of last season with a heart condition.
The Phoenix Suns began play in 1968 and first appeared in the NBA Playoffs in just their second season. After failing to qualify for the postseason the next five years, Phoenix Suns fans became accustomed to their squad as a perennial playoff contender, as the Suns made a play for the title in nine of the following 10 seasons, including an NBA Finals appearance against the eventual champion Boston Celtics in 1976.
The Phoenix Suns made their second NBA Finals appearance in franchise history in 1993, falling in six games to the powerhouse Chicago Bulls.
The Phoenix Suns have played in the US Airways Arena since 1992, when it was called the America West Arena and “The Purple Palace” is simply the place to be for NBA basketball in the desert.
